Meet Our Founder

Viviene Sinclair Witter

Founder of RACE Award

Viviene was born in the island of Jamaica where she completed secondary education and came to the UK as a teenager.  She completed her higher education in the UK and holds a BSc (hon) degree in Social Policy and Management.  Viviene is concerned with social injustice, and is always striving to make things right. She dislikes bigotry and is passionate about her community. She is an optimist and believes that if you set your goals, work hard to achieve and have faith in the creator you will succeed. Viviene loves music and equally loves to dance. She also enjoys writing poems and lyrics.  Viviene sits on the board of several charities and is a prominent member of her community.

The idea of RACE Awards came about several years ago when Viviene would watch the American BET and Black Girls Rock Awards.  Back then she longed to see Awards of that nature here in the UK.  The name came about as Viviene wanted to have a title that would reflect what she wants to portray and which would draw attention to the subject in an inspiring way.  Hence the acronym RACE -Raising Awareness Celebrating Excellence.
